Description
The FS455 and FS456 are PC-to-TV video scan converters that are designed for mobile products. They are only 7mm x 7mm in size, and are well suited to small PCB designs. They accept computer graphics as inputs and output broadcast quality video compliant with the following standards: :
Format |
Standard |
NTSC (SD) |
SMPTE-170M |
PAL (SD) |
ITU-R 624 |
480p (HD) |
EIA-770.2-A |
720p (HD) |
SMPTE 296 |
1080i (HD) |
SMPTE 274 |
They have artifact-free scalers that are capable of Perfect TV Sizing through a wide range of input graphics resolutions. When converting progressive input graphics to interlaced SDTV video, they process each image pixel-by-pixel to ensure the best possible video quality. Their adaptive flicker filters enhance text quality while removing all flicker from the output video.
After processing the input graphics, the chips pass the data through an ITU-R BT.656 encoder to produce broadcast quality video. The digital video encoder generates Y/C, CVBS, RGB and YPrPb output signals. These signals can be combined to support RGB + CVBS for SCART, YPrPb + CVBS or multiple CVBS and Y/C DAC outputs.
The FS456 incorporates Macrovision 7 anti-copy protection. Both the FS455 and FS456 can be programmed to drive CGMS-A broadcast flags for content protection.
